An interesting guide on alternative medicine.
8pp., engraved device above title, slight toning on final leaf, 8vo, London, Thomas Harrild, [c.1850s]
This printed letter on the Asiatic Cholera pandemic was circulated among the member of the British Homeopathic Association “not only with a hope that it may contribute to their personal safety, but that with a view to the preservation of other, they will disseminate as widely as possible a knowledge of the facts which it contains.”
The facts include a list of cases in different countries throughout Europe and North Africa, a list of cases and deaths in hospitals and private houses, but also an extensive argument for homeopathic treatment over the ‘Allopathic’ or normal method.
Homeopathic treatments include: “Cesspools and dust holes cleaned out”, “regular exercise in open air”, “no raw vegetables should be taken, or cold fruit…”.
