One of the most famous stories ever written, The Hound of the Baskervilles is the third Sherlock Holmes novel. Largely set on Dartmoor in Devon, Sherlock Holmes and his companion Dr. Watson investigate a murder inspired by the legend of a fearsome, diabolical hound of supernatural origin. This was the first appearance of Holmes since Conan Doyle attempted to kill his most adored character off in 1893 with “The Final Problem”. The fictional private detective was brought back due to popular demand and the success of The Hound of the Baskervilles led to the character’s eventual revival. Arguably the most important work on the world’s most famous detective.
