English, 18th century, brass compass, central bridge with double pin-hole gnomon sliding over calendar and zodiacal scales, outer meridian ring engraved with latitude scale 0-90-0-90-0 degrees, hours engraved in Roman numerals, 127mm diameter, original leather bound case (worn).

An Extremely Unusual Fine 18th Century brass universal equatorial dial. No examples found at the Royal Maritime Museum or the British Museum.
